Lovely Edition to my Library

Perfect collection of information, neatly put together. Keep in mind, for any of you who did internet searches to get your information in the past, there is a LOT of information here, about a lot of different of demons and items associated with demons, so in that sense you can find yourself reading for a while and still not past the 'A' section. In short, I only knew of maybe 50 or so demons from various religions. This book has hundreds more.
It would be nice to see a book breaking demons down by 'type' but that could take forever and of course many function in different ways. I especially love that she has all of her resources after each entry.
She also tries to remain neutral, which can be hard when you are writing about people faking that they are possessed to further their career. In addition, she acknowledges when a particular demon is viewed as a god by some and a demon to other religions.

complex and juicy insights into demons who are uinque

A few dry and confusing entries, but overall I thought this was a unique and complicated insight into demons. I disagree conscientiously with a few analyses on hope, but that aside, I loved it. Do you pray? You should. Do you believe in the power of the name of Jesus and Mary? You should. Do you believe in angels and demons? You should--they believe in you.

Short and complete but poorly written and hard to read.

This is my first time leaving a review for a book so don't expect any fancy analysis -- just my opinion. I thought this was poorly written and difficult to read. It was filled with long and over complicated sentences that made reading slow and tedious. The writing style reminded me of someone who was just trying to make a short text extra long to fill space. Here are some sentences from the first few pages of the first chapter:

"Upon the invention of television, a first force restricting the textual analysis of television from developing was the established dominance of social science methods for studying mass media such as radio and print."

"Meanwhile, the humanities traditions of literary and rhetorical criticism that were well established at this time largely disregarded television at first as an inferior artistic form of the masses, not relevant to be considered as art or likely to hold deeper meaning."

"Although this would eventually change, and although many of the critical tools most commonly used in textual analysis of television originate from literary and film studies, the acceptance of television as a legitimate artistic form alongside literature and film required difficult -- and likely incomplete -- negotiation."

I found myself constantly having to read slowly and/or re-read sentences just to understand what was being said. Hopefully someone with better analysis skills can offer a more qualified description of the books quality. As for me, I'll let the quotes above serve as an example of what I believe is representative of the texts quality so judge for yourself.

About the Author
John Sweeney is a reporter for BBC Panorama. Before joining the BBC in 2001, Sweeney worked for twelve years at The Observer. He has helped free seven innocent people falsely convicted for killing their babies and given evidence against six war criminals in The Hague. Over the course of his career John has won one Emmy, two Royal Television Society prizes, one Sony Gold award, the What The Papers Say Journalist of The Year Prize, an Amnesty International prize and the Paul Foot Award. He is the author of eight books.

Not Exciting Reading

Having read Paul Fischer’s A Kim Jong-Il Production (also a 2015 pub), I was looking forward to another exciting true tale of life in this tyrannical country. This isn't it. Whereas Fischer wrote about the people caught up in Kim Jong Il’s net, Sweeney writes mostly about himself. His “undercover” consisted of touring the country as a history professor, instead of identifying himself as a journalist. Sweeney tells about his experiences touring other dictatorships and places North Korea at the bottom of the list. Because he presents a lot of historical facts about the war, he doesn’t tell us a lot about North Korea we haven’t read elsewhere. Moreover, his writing style is snarky and somewhat repetitious. For an exciting read, pick up the Fischer book or Blaine Harden’s The Great Leader and the Fighter Pilot, which is an exciting history of the formation of the contemporary North Korean state and the rise of Kim Il Sung. Both are engrossing.

A Compelling Look Inside the World's Most Repressive Regime

This is an excellent overview of the North Korean regime and the Kim dynasty. John Sweeney mixes history, interviews with defectors, and his own personal experiences on a tour of North Korea to create a fascinating and compelling study of the most reclusive, and probably the most repressive, country in existence. This book is an excellent primer for anyone interested in a general historical and political overview of the regime and a useful although brief biography for Koreaphiles interested in the new leader Kim Chong Un.

[NOTE: It is not easy wading through the tidal pool of myths, inaccuracies, and regime-produced propaganda to obtain an accurate biography of the the three Kims or a historical reality of the founding of North Korea; however, John Sweeney has done a superb job in pulling together that narrative. I spent twenty-three years with the U.S. intelligence community, a good portion of that time spent against the North Korean target, and can say that Sweeney's book is one of the most accurate I have read.]

North Korea by an edgier Bill Bryson

This is perhaps one of my favorite books that I have read on the North Korea phenomenon and history over the last sixty years. The book is insightful, clear, and hold a great deal of facts and information that I am actually surprised that a great deal of other books on the topic do not contain. What is perhaps most interesting and engaging about this particular text is that Sweeney's tone throughout the book is very personal, lighthearted, at times subjective, but entirely entertaining throughout the book and seemed Bill Bryson wrote it if Bill Bryson was a bit of a sarcastic pub crawler with a deathwish for visiting the world's most notoriously dangerous places. While this does lend itself to needing some elements of critical thinking at times in terms of discerning facts from opinions, Sweeney separated his editorializing from his factual reporting in a recognizable manner.

Sweeney's analysis of the various facts that he presented was extremely helpful. After reading other books about the regime and life in North Korea, some avoided some major elements that were central to this narrative. This includes the racial purity aspect, which I had no idea about but was convincingly presented and supported with anecdotes and evidence. I also was unaware of the plight of artists in the country, as well as American defectors who have lived relatively comfortably in the country since they defected during the Korean war.

I felt that Sweeney presented an excellent and engaging book on the topic, as if we were sitting down to a conversation about his work over a beer. I also loved the anecdotal elements he would present from his various trips, including when he would give the tour guides a hard time and bend the rules to hilarious effect. Some may argue that this is not an "undercover" operation that is presented in the book (frankly, it sounds like they named it that to mirror his BBC expose), but it is in many ways a well-researched and investigated approach to talking about the state peppered with real-life experiences of the author in Pyongyang.

Love! Love

Love! Love! Love this book! Andy brought the Comp Plan to life for me thru this Field Guide! I am already returning to different chapters/sections re-reading tips and strategy. Most of all. I love the discussion about learning and teaching others about the product! These wonderful oils are why we're doing this in the first place! Health #1. Abundance #2! And, of course, the prayers that go alongside these oils! This book lays it all out!! Why? Who? When? How? I'd say both of Andy's books are the perfect kicking off point to building a beautiful, abundantly, blessed future!! I'll be purchasing several to share with our team! They will love this easy-to-understand style of explaining the comp plan! Great job, Andy!!

I wish I had this book 6 months ago.

Great book! I wish that I would have read this when my wife started the business...I was like many husband examples in this book..I believed in the Oils and what they could do for our families health, but had no understanding of the compensation and freedom that can come from sharing your passion. Like raising our family, my wife and I are a team, each bringing our own strengths; her's is sharing the oils, and mine is the business side...This book is a great companion for the "Teams" out there in the YL oil business. The concepts are easy and the principals are true...Great Job! This book should be read by every husband who's wife purchases a kit, even if you are not interested in the business!

As much as I loved his first book

As much as I loved his first book, when Andy said he was writing another book just on the “comp plan,” I thought it would be pretty dry and boring material. I should have known better! In the same style that he presented the YLEO opportunity, he has delivered a tremendous amount of information on the compensation plan in a very entertaining manner that keeps you wanting to read more. Far from just boring “how-to” information, this is the nuts & bolts of the business that everyone needs to know, and it's presented in a way that anyone can get it. You'll want your entire team to read this book!
